Crazy! Mini Bird Crazy and Things

Ha! I love these stamps and die sets. As soon as I saw it demonstrated on a youtube video, I had to have them. I had to have all the extras too. The hats, balloons, ties, present, sentiments and the all dies that went with them. One problem. When they arrived, I drew a blank. Ugh.

The demonstration I saw on youtube was great and easy enough to recreate, but considering the cost of these sets, I need to be able to do more than recreate someone else’s design.

So, I had an idea that I would use one of the birds and make it look like he got lost in a field. I would create a blended background and use a stamp I haven’t utilized yet for the field. I would either create a die cut of the bird or create a mask of the bird in the field. I tried both and I didn’t like either of them so I halted my work. I did some nice blending though. 😁 (blending was done with distress oxide inks)

Then I moved on to try something a little different. A belated birthday card, but I wasn’t impressed with how that was going either. I used Altenew’s stencil for the background, stamped, coloured and die cut my bird, and some balloons.

Nope. I didn’t like it.

Then, as I was cleaning up, I noticed a sentiment on the Crazy Talk Stamp set. “define normal”.

Then I thought of using multiple windows, 6 to be exact, as I would use Simon Says Stamp Trio Window Die. Did I have 6 birds? I sure did! Finally! A design I’m excited about.

I did some rough measurements with my window die and my birds. Stamped all 6 different birds and chose similar copics as what’s on the cover of the Sizzix die packaging. I took the awesome “define normal” sentiment and nestled it between two of the windows. It fit perfectly.

Then, I added some foam tape to the back of my window panel and adhered it to my bird panel….and I love it!!

So I’m pretty happy with this, but ummm…maybe Christmas Cards will render more results. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
