So Many Crafts, So Little Time.
My name is Jennifer Johnston and welcome to my site! I started crafting when I made the decision in 2014 to do a DIY wedding. Pinterest was my obsession – with handcrafted flowers, diy photo frames and decorated vases and there was never too much inspiration for me to soak in. This started me on my journey. Since then, I’m on my second Silhouette Cameo, and accumulated more crafting supplies than I actually use (I’m not complaining). My main creations are crepe paper flowers, decal picture frames and greeting cards.
Crepe Paper Flowers
Crepe paper flowers is a craft I didn’t even know existed till 2014, but it dates back a century. If you look hard enough, you can find books and tutorials for crepe paper flowers as far back as 1895. I know, cause I found one.
Creating something as beautiful as a flower out of paper gives me such joy that other crafts don’t bring, so it’s something I will continue to do, I suspect, for a long, long time.
Greeting Cards
I started creating greeting cards back when I first got my Silhouette Cameo in 2014. It was a gift from my husband for my birthday. I had never created anything but paper flowers, so this was a bit of a learning curve. Some of my initial greeting cards would take me all day to make. So much time spent on designing, cutting and gluing – looking back on it now, I can’t understand what took me so long.
I currently use die cutting and stamps to make most of my greeting cards. My mediums are expanding, as I recently starting using Zig Real Brush Markers and my Copics just arrived in the mail!
Some may wonder why I’ve gone from the Silhouette Cameo to die cuts, but the Cameo doesn’t give me the dimension of the cut the way die cuts do.
