Elegant Card Design with Black Silhouette

Sometimes, the most powerful messages are the simplest ones. Today’s project, focuses on the striking contrast between a crisp black silhouette and a soft, glowing background. This design is perfect for those moments when you want to send a thoughtful “just because” note or a heartfelt sympathy card.

The focal point of this card is the intricate leaf branch stamp from the Leafscape stamp set. By placing the bold black image over a soft pink arched background, I created an instant “spotlight” effect that draws the eye directly to the detail of the leaves.

I used one of the nesting arches-die to create a stencil and ink-blended and arch with soft pinks This grounds the organic leaves and provides a clean, architectural element to the design.

I used both black fresh dye ink and obsidian (a pigment) ink for the leaves. The obsidian really makes the stamped leaves pop. Note: I used the dye ink first to limit the amount of pigment ink I need to use.

For the sentiment, I pulled out my handy-dandy dry-erase marker to draw the curve on my stampwheel lid, and used this line to line up the sentiment on the other side of the lid.

I finished the card by mounting the white panel onto a black card base. This thin black border ties the whole piece together, echoing the dark tones of the leaves and making the colors inside look even more vibrant.

I also created a card using the leftover arch die cut, but I’ll save that for another post, as this project was recorded and added to my IG reels!
