Hi there, and welcome to my next project.
For this post, I’ll be creating a simple garden rose with 90g crepe paper. I’ve been reaching for the 90g crepe paper a lot lately, and think I need to increase my stash. If you don’t have 90g or fine crepe, feel free to use the 140g or the 180g – the 180g might be too heavy, though. I haven’t used this weight for this flower, so I’m not entirely sure what the result will be, but you may need to do a bit more stretching to thin-out this paper.

I did try this flower with the fine crepe paper, which is about 60g or 40g…to be honest, I’m not sure of the exact weight, but it’s pretty light, and I didn’t get great results. I should note I was also still trying to figure this flower out. I think that was an error on my part, as creating a new template and learning the construction of a flower is tedious enough with out having to worry about the fragility of the paper. With that said, I would recommend the 90g when starting and once you’re more comfortable with the construction, give the fine crepe a try – I know it’s on my list to try.

Supplies
- Hot Glue
- 90g Crepe Paper – White, Yellow, and Green
- Tacky Glue
- 1 Heavy Gauge Wire
- 1 Light Gauge Wire – Cut into 3 Pieces for the Leaves

The Flower
As I said at the beginning, this is a simple flower to make. The petal count is forgiving, and there’s no perfect equation for this flower. If you’re looking for a simple, quick flower to make along with a Peony, this is a great pairing. See my crepe paper peonies here and here.
I created a video with instructions and a template.
