Easy Die Cutting Techniques – AECP

Here are my cards for the next class. This class is about adding detail and dimension with die cuts. I love using die cuts to create cards. This is one of my favorite techniques to use, so when this class came along, I had a hard time deciding what to make, as I had so many ideas.

Easy Die Cutting

The plan was to create one card (this is always my plan) but one of the embossed die cut-colours didn’t work with my stamped colours, so, another card HAD to be made. 😊

Supplies

  • Altenew – Dainty Bouquet Stamp & Die
  • Memento Black Ink (great ink for bigger solid stamps)
  • Altenew Dye Ink – Misty Morning, Nimbus, Lagoon, Emerald (flower)
  • Altenew Dye Ink – Citrus Burst, Fresh Lemon, (blended ink die cut and border)
  • Distress Oxide Ink – Milled Lavender, Victorian Velvet, Tattered Rose ((blended ink die cut and border)
  • We R Memory Keepers Embossing Folder, Gemstone

The Cards

These cards are really simple. I took a lighter weight cardstock, blended some ink colours and tore it into an oval shape. I took this piece and die cut it using the dainty bouquet die, and with both die cut pieces together like a puzzle, I embossed it with a beautiful gemstone embossing folder.

The first lifted die cut oval was blended with a pink/purple ink, which was made for the blue-green layered flower from dainty bouquet stamp set, but the colors didn’t work together. So I created another one in blended yellows which worked perfectly.

Lifted and Embossed Die Cut
Added Sequins

Now I still had this pink/purple die cut and embossed piece and HAD to create another card, but this time I stamped one layer of the flower in black. This worked perfectly!

Lifted and Embossed Die Cut
No Sequins Needed

Both die cut ovals are lifted with foam tape. That was time consuming – getting all those little pieces of foam tape on those thin areas of the die cut.

I wish the camera could have caught the embossing little more, cause with the naked eye, it really does pop!!

This is another class down. Catch you at Irresistible Inking Techniques
