I am back today with a project that is all about warmth, color, and a little bit of “ink-splattered” fun. There is something so therapeutic about coloring large floral stamps, and today’s card features some of my favorite techniques for creating depth and dimension.
I started by stamping these gorgeous blooms onto cardstock with a light toned dye ink. To bring them to life, I used a blend of vibrant pinks, focusing on the deep shadows near the center of the flowers to make the petals truly recede and advance. The greenery was kept bright and fresh to complement the pink tones.

For the background, I wanted to mimic a soft morning sun. I used a light yellow ink and a blending brush, starting from the top right and fading out toward the flowers. This “glow” effect helps the sentiment—“sending lots of love and hugs”—stand out without needing a separate die-cut or banner.

No card of mine is complete without a little bit of texture! I added some fine black ink splatters (with Carbon Black Artists’ Gouache) across the design to break up the solid colors and add a touch of “artsy” flair. Finally, I trimmed the panel and framed it with black cardstock to pull the black ink from the sentiment and splatters together.
