Hello all, and welcome to my third class on my AECP journey in level 3.
This class was a doozy! I am so happy with my level 3 class choices that I just keep patting myself on the back for making such great picks. And, of course, a huge shout out to the instructors for creating such wonderful classes. 😁
Elements of Floral Composition class provides technical information about the layout and composition of the card panel when creating floral layouts.

A brief overview of the class elements:
- Color – this is about balance the rule of color on your panel
- Value – creating color values, ranges and using shades of the same color
- Line – their weights, thicknesses and perceived lines
- Shape – shapes created by the arrangement on the card panel and incorporating multiple shapes
- Form – this is about shadows, and adding actual or perceived dimension.
- Texture – adding texture whether is actual texture or the look of texture using inks.
- Space – this idea has stuck with me. It’s about the layout and locations of your elements on the card using the rule of thirds
I see myself going back to this course periodically to review the elements and incorporating them into my projects.

The Cards
Alright, on to the cards.
Card 1
I know it’s not floral, but I got this new (to me) die set, and I created this card using the rule of color ratio, and it worked perfectly. I made sure my ratios were good by counting my colored pieces before putting it together. You can see I added dimension (form) by stacking some of my die cuts, and die cutting the triangular shapes again (texture) with the heart dies.
I used Altenew’s Pale Mauve to color my white cardstock for the largest color, brushed gold for my second, and finally black at my smallest ratio.

Card 2
This card incorporates line, shape and form.

Card 3
This is my favorite card. This card uses form, texture and space.
I also used double sided tape to create the lines on the left, and heat embossed it with Rose Gold embossing powder. Looove the texture and crispness this technique gives.

Card 4
This one is my favorite, too…and I used a similar technique with the double sided tape, but used foil instead. I recommend the embossing powder, as I find the foil a bit too fragile. With that said, this still looks amazing. I don’t think my photos do this one justice, as it looks much better to the naked eye.
I love die-cutting an image and stacking it with black die-cuts. It adds so much character.
This card uses value, form, texture and space.

That’s it for this one…see you at the next project.

Comment
Absolutely brilliant. I recommend this class to everyone.
