DIY Clock – Upcycled Altenew Packaging

Hello, and welcome back. This is part of Altenew’s Level 2 final project.

This is only part of my final project, but definitely needs it’s own post. The rules for this part of the project is to create an altered/upcycled project, and I’m really excited and proud of what I made.

Back in July, I participated in a Craft Your Life Virtual Retreat, and we received Altenew’s Instant Dimension Foam Tape in our kit. When I opened the package and there were these 2 large round boards, I thought these are beautiful and I need to keep them. I’m so glad I did because that’s what I’m using for my clock face.

Supplies

  • Instant Dimension Foam Tape Packaging
  • Black Vynil
  • Bold Numerals Die Set
  • Hanging Garden Die Set
  • Clock Mechanism
  • Glitter Paper

The Clock

I’ve never created my own clock before, but I have changed out the clock mechanisms on my own clock a few times over the years, so putting that piece together was a cinch, but all the measurements are new to me.

Watch my video below, which shows how to create our own clock, including finding your center on a circle and how to mark the exact position of all 12 numbers on a clock face.
