Here are my cards for the next class – Let it Shine.
This class was about adding some shine to your card, and you can really add it anywhere. The project inspirations in this course really show so many ways to add some shine – banners, sentiments, or adding some subtle shimmer your your colored stamps.
I had so many ideas for this class, but what I really wanted to use was my Deco Foil paste – mostly because I’ve had it for over a year and still hadn’t made a card with it. Sure, I did some experimenting, but I didn’t actually produce a card.
I pulled out my favorite stamp set, Wallpaper Art and colored these beautiful flowers with copics; but all the shine is in the distressed backgrounds.

Most of my time was spent coloring my flowers. I’ve tried coloring flowers with my red copics in the past, but I was never satisfied with my results. Not this time. I’m in LOVE with the bold color of these flowers.
For my backgrounds, I used the Stone Wall Stencil, but wanted create a distressed look to my image.
For the gold background, I put my stencil down and used my versamark ink pad to apply the ink to the center area of the stencil. I pulled out a makeup sponge and dabbed the outer area of the stencil with the versamark ink in order to give a more distressed look. I love how it turned out. This is a technique I need to use more often.
My foiled background is a bit more ‘distressed’ than my heat embossed background. I put the stone stencil down and applied my foil paste to the center area of my stencil, and again, used a makeup sponge but dabbed the entire area of paste and moved to the outer area of the stencil. Let it dry and ran it through my laminator with silver deco foil. I really love how this turned out.
Finally, I added a simple ‘Hello’ die cut – layered 3 times with cardstock to give more depth. I should also mention that I added shimmer to my border on the deco foiled card. I feel like it wasn’t necessary though and wouldn’t do it again.
Let me know what you think of these cards, guys, cause I’m really feeling them!
That’s it for this class ladies and gents. I’ll see you at the next one – Celebrations Stencil Techniques
